The Little Shop

The Little Shop The children of Goodenough wanted to have a Little Shop where they could sell cakes and coffee to collect money for charity. They held a planning meeting where they discussed their preferences and chose Zisize, a charity that helps children in South Africa. They also decided to make the donation in memory of baby Emma Sophia Dimitrijevic, a child at the College who sadly passed away at 13 days old.

On 15 March 2008 the children opened the Little Shop in the Willy G lobby. More than 25 children participated in preparing signs, cakes, drinks and selling on the day. They raised £200, which was then matched by Sasha and Alex, Emma’s parents, to a total of £400. The money went directly to the Zisize charity and children in South Africa.

To conclude the event, the children met Prasanna Balasundaram from the Goodenough Zisize club, who told them about the charity and how the money will be used. The Little Shop was a great success!

The children worked hard and were happy to know that their efforts will help other children in great need. The Little Shop opened again in the garden on 8 June 2008 (see photo) and raised a further £120.
